Why the Threshing Floor?

In Scripture, the threshing floor was a place where the harvest was gathered and prepared. It was also a place of surrender, sacrifice, mercy, and the presence of God.  

The name expresses the kind of people we are asking God to form: people who come honestly into His presence, surrender what cannot remain, receive His mercy, and become prepared for His purposes.  

We do not want to hide from God, perform for God, or build without God. We want to live fully surrendered before Him.  

A place of surrender.

Meet Our Leaders

Chris and Amanda Barrans have spent years serving the local church together and share a deep love for people, families, and the city of Winston-Salem. Chris serves as the Lead Pastor of Church at the Threshing Floor, carrying a passion to see people formed by the presence of God, rooted deeply in Scripture, and sent into the world with the gospel. After years in pastoral ministry, God began stirring a clear call in Chris to plant a church in Winston-Salem—one marked by prayer, biblical faithfulness, genuine community, and a desire to see the Kingdom of God take root throughout the city.

Amanda serves alongside Chris as his wife, closest ministry partner, and a steady presence in the life of the church, while focusing much of her energy on their family and raising their girls. Together, the Barrans family wants their home and their lives to reflect the same kind of church they are helping build: a place where people are deeply loved, Jesus is at the center, prayer is foundational, and everyone is invited to follow Him with their whole life. They are grateful to call Winston-Salem home and are excited to see what God will do through Church at the Threshing Floor.
